Report reveals that crime costs UK 15 billion pounds a year
London, July 4 (ANI): A study undertaken by the Taxpayers Alliance has shockingly revealed that crime costs Britain 15 billion pounds a year.
In individual terms, it works out to 275 pounds for every man, woman and child in the country, based on bills incurred for policing and health care, effects on the economy and social impact.
Violence, including murders and serious assaults, carried the biggest price tag, costing each tax paying person in Britain 155 pounds a year alone. That figure rose to 225 pounds in the West Midlands alone.
Nottinghamshire registered the worst overall figures, with crime costing every person in the county nearly 390 pounds.
London was second with about 388 pounds, followed by Humberside, where crime cost 380 pounds per head.
According to The Sun, the lowest figure was in North Yorkshire at 130 pounds per person.
The Alliance said taking a "zero tolerance" approach to minor crime could slash the bill, cutting police bureaucracy and freeing cops from Whitehall targets. (ANI)
