Bopanna continues his good form in ATP Challenger
July 21: Bopanna and his doubles partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi reached the doubles semifinals of the ATP Challenger Series tournament in Manchester after winning a nerve-racking match over Dominiq Meffert and Simon Stadler of Germany.
Bopanna ( Ind) and Qureshi from Pakistan defeated the German duo in 6-3, 5-7 and 10-7 though the match was disrupted by rain for few minutes.
Earlier the seventh seed Rohan Bopanna in a pre-quarterfinal match had defeated Dominiq Meffert of Germany in a straight three-set match and reached the quarterfinals of ATP Challenger men’s singles in Manchester, England.
After losing the first set in 3-6, he managed to win the second set with close margin of 6-4 but that was not enough as the third set became a bit stiff for both the players. However, after saving two match points in the third set Bopanna manages to win the decider with 7-6.
In another match Prakash Amritraj marched to the quarter-finals of $75,000 Comercia Challenger Series in California. He beat American Brian Wilson in a tough competition 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4).
