Shashi Tharoor attends Congress meeting in Kerala
Kochi, Dec 16 (IANS) Shashi Tharoor, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, attended a public meeting organised by the Congress party here Monday evening, setting off speculation on whether he could be a likely party candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Tharoor, a Keralite who hails from Palakkad, later told a TV channel that he had attended the party meeting after being invited by state Congress president Ramesh Chennithala.
'I am delivering a lecture at the delegate session of the Congress party tomorrow (Tuesday) and it is a long time I have heard Sonia Gandhi speaking at a public meeting, so I decided to come,' said Tharoor.
To a specific question on whether he sees himself as a candidate of the Congress party at the next Lok Sabha polls, he said he cannot make any comment on a gift that is yet to come.
