Belgaum (Karnataka), Dec 15 (ANI): China's People's Liberation Army troops departed from Belgaum after concluding a joint anti-terrorism exercise with India on Sunday.

Chinese troops will touch down at the Lohegaon Air Base in Pune before their final departure for China.

China and India held the anti-terrorism exercise in a show of cooperation between the two longtime rivals a week after armed militants attacked Mumbai.

The joint drill, named "Hand in Hand 2008", was held here from December 6 and continued until 14 December.

The exercise involving one infantry company from each country was based on an agreement that Beijing and New Delhi struck in 2006.

The exercise underscored Beijing's desire to be seen as working with India in the aftermath of the deadly attack on Mumbai.

The first-ever joint army exercises between both countries was held in Kunming, China, in 2007. (ANI)
