Bangalore, Dec 14 (IANS) Kannada action hero Darshan, whose last film 'Navagraha' was much liked by audiences, has signed on two back-to-back big budget films and both were launched the same day.

Though both the projects were launched Dec 5, the actor would be taking them on one after the other. While he plays the title role in producer Bala Reddy's 'Abhay', his film with Rockline Venkatesh, a remake of Tamil movie 'Boss', is yet to be named.

Both the producers wanted to kickstart their films Dec 5 as it was considered an auspicious date.

Said Mahesh Babu, the director of 'Abhay': 'We had planned for the film's launch many months ago for Dec 5. I have yet to decide about the film's heroine. I plan to visit Mumbai to zero in on a heroine who suits the character.'

The director said that his film's script had been well designed to exploit Darshan's talent in doing comedy sequences.

Producer Venkatesh's untitled film is being directed by Om Prakash Rao, who will be working with Darshan after a long time. The two have earlier worked together in successful films like 'Kalasipalya', 'Ayya' and 'Mandya'.

'I am happy to be working with Darshan after a long gap in this new film to be made by my close friend Rockline Venkatesh. The film is a remake of Tamil hit 'Boss' featuring Srikantha and Sneha,' said Rao.

He added that the action sequences would be planned meticulously and budget would not be a constraint. The film will also star actress Nikitha, informed sources said.

Darshan is currently working on debutant director Raghu Raj's film that also stars Navya Nair and Rekha. Once that is wrapped up, he starts shooting Rockline Venkatesh's film for about a month. He is set to start work on 'Abhay' after Jan 10.
