BJP summons its Rajasthan leaders to Delhi

New Delhi, Fri, 12 Dec 2008 ANI

New Delhi, Dec.12 (ANI): Central leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday summoned former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhare Raje and state unit chief Om Prakash Mathur to Delhi to sort out their differences prior to the 2009 general elections.

Party sources said BJP president Rajnath Singh and senior leaders L K Advani and M Venkaiah Naidu will counsel both Raje and Mathur to set aside their personal differences and work to ensure the party's victory in the general elections. hen Naidu was contacted and asked about this development, he confirmed the news, but did not elaborate.

Party sources said Naidu has been asked to bring both Raje and Mathur onto one platform to ensure there is no repeat of the assembly election defeat that the BJP suffered in Rajasthan recently.

The differences between the two are said to have been over ticket distribution in the run-up to the State elections.he views of both leaders are likely to be sought on why the party was defeated at the recent hustings. The BJP could only win 78 of the 200 seats this time, as opposed to 120 seats that it secured in the 2003 polls. (ANI)
