Lucknow, Dec 12(IANS) Unable to arrange money for the treatment of their only daughter, her parents fled after admitting her to a hospital in Kanpur district, officials said Friday.

According to reports, two-year-old Divya Thursday morning fell down from the roof of her house in Sarsaul village and received critical injuries.

Her father Som Prasad Dwivedi admitted her in a private hospital in Kanpur, 90 km from Lucknow, but is missing along with his wife since Thursday evening.

'The girl is very critical and is admitted in the ICU of our hospital. We think that as Dwivedi was not able to arrange for money, the couple ran away. We appeal to all the citizens of the district to come forward for Divya's help', Dr. Dev Lumba of the hospital told IANS by phone.

The police are making efforts to trace the couple.

'Dwivedi worked as a labourer and was living in our village since long. It is very much possible that due to his inability to arrange money that the couple ran away,' Sarsaul village chie Raghu Bharti told IANS by phone.
