Siem Reap (Cambodia), Dec 12 (IANS) Music loving Gurbaaz Mann was on a song as he shot a sensational seven-under 65 to move to tied seventh at the halfway stage of the $300,000 Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open golf tournament here Friday.
Mann who was even par 72 for the first day, is now seven-under for two days and four behind the leader Chawalit Plaphol of Thailand.
Gurbaaz, who recently cut a music album with some fellow golfers and musicians, played one of his best rounds of the year on the Asian Tour.
Among other Indians, Harmeet Kahlon shot a four-under 68 to make up for his first round 74 and moved to 39th at two-under 142.
Also making the cut were Anirban Lahiri (73) and Gaganjeet Bhullar (72) at one-under 143. They are tied at 45th place. Himmat Rai (72) squeezed inside the cut-line at even par 144 in tied 62nd place.
However, Feroz Ali (72) and Sujjan (72) missed the cut at two-over 146 in tied 75th place. Also exiting early were Digvijay Singh (73) at three-over 147 and Amandeep Johl (72) at six-over 150.
Plaphol took the outright lead after posting a second round six-under-par 66.
Plaphol's two-day total of 11-under-par 133 has now given him a slender one shot lead over fellow compatriot, Thongchai Jaidee, Corey Harris and Anthony Kang of the US.
The trio are bunched together in second place after recording matching 134s while South Korea's Park Jae-bum is a further shot back in fourth when he posted a two-day round score of 68, 67 for a 135 total.
The day seemed destined to end in a four-way tie at the top until Plaphol birdied his shot at the par three, 16th to snatch the lead at the Phokeethra Country Club.
Meanwhile, Harris who only got back to competitive golf after a hiatus of 12 months, is pleasantly surprised with the way he has been playing this week.
Thongchai got off to an opening par on his back-nine. The Thai star then ignited his charge by firing two successive birdies on the 11th and 12th.
