Gujarat holds desert fest in Kutch
Bhuj (Gujarat), Dec 11 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi here Thursday inaugurated a four-day Kutch carnival, Ranotsav 2008, promising tourists a memorable time in the desert district.
'This carnival would be a memorable one for the tourists as they move around in dazzling 'moonlit desert' which would showcase the glorious cultural legacy and diverse multicoloured culture of Gujarat,' he said.
'I would like to see the carnival take shape on the lines of other carnivals organised at international level,' he said.
Gujarat has focused on the service and tourism sectors to generate job opportunities, he said.
'Gujarat has immense tourism potential,' Modi said. 'The 1,600-km long coastal line and the beauty of the desert has a unique quality. We will make every possible effort to establish its global identity,' he said.
