Amrita-Imroz captures the true story of two distinguished lovers

Delhi, Sat, 21 Apr 2007 Noor En Ahmed

April 20: Uma Trilok, the renowned author and academician has summarized the true and spiritual love story of the deceased Amrita Pritam, the famous versatile author and Imroz, a less famous painter. Uma has captured the flavor of Amrita’s devoted hymn in her new book Amrita-Imroz, which has been published in three major languages English, Hindi and Urdu. They are all provided with the same title and all the books have been published by Penguin Books India Pvt Ltd., and Yatra books. The books were released by a famous personality Muzaffar Ali at India Habitat Center on Friday April 20, 2007.

Uma Trilok, an intimate friend of Amrita and Imroz has given her maximum to reflect the beautiful love story with some sacred hymns written by Amrita’s as well as Bull-e-Shah’s verses. This was quoted by Naved Akbar, an Urdu publisher of Penguin books in India. Naved anchored the show and addressed a large audience which had assembled.

“I haven’t read the book but will read it in future for the spiritual love story of Amrita and Imroz, written by Uma, because I always favor women and all my collections and creations are for women, said Muzaffar Ali. Muzaffar is an eminent figure, a famous film producer, director, painter and dress designer. “From Heer (protagonist in Heer Ranjha) to Amrita I have always appreciated those bold ladies who confronted the society and demanded their rights, the rights of women’s liberation, he further added. Muzaffar released all the versions of the book on the same day.

Appreciating the book, Lavleen Thadani, a famous media personality and documentary producer said, “I have never heard such a fascinating and true love story of Amrita and Imroz ever before. Uma has done a tremendous job. Though Amrita loves Sahir, but Imroz never stressed on it. He takes it in a very natural way and loves her despite all odds. There are no signs of any physical relationship between them, even though she lived with Imroz, without marrying him and she confronted the society boldly, expressed Lavleen.

Tarannum Riaz, an Urdu poet and film maker and Tejinder Singh Luthra, a Hindi poet were also among the guests. Towards the end of the releasing ceremony, Madanlal Sandhu, a marvelous radio singer sang a spiritual song composed by Waris Shah.

have read this book and loved it. just kept wondering is so much love really possible in this world. mujhe ye yakeen hua ki unki mohabbat ko parmatma ne apne haantho se sparsh kar ke unke dilon me rakha tha . wo khud tha. had come in touch with some of amrita's poems just 6 yrs back. wanted to see her with my eyes but it never happened. just want to see imroz once really as you would a darshan.r men like imroz really happen to this world. love you imroz so much. and my gratitude to the authoress who must have felt as deeply to write so. recently read kisi tarikh ko.so much love that it fills my eyes with tears and keeps it awake for long. love again for all of you who make this world worth living, loving....
