Sydney, Dec 10 (ANI): New South Wales coach and deputy of John Buchanan at Kolkata Knight Riders, Matthew Mott, has rejected notions that his attempted recruitment of Blues players to the IPL franchise could result in a conflict of interest.
Kolkata have signed all-rounder Moises Henriques to a massive deal worth up to 300,000 dollars and they're also chasing David Warner and Steven Smith at the behest of Mott, but the coach believes that the NSW will be the big winners in the long run.
"I think the IPL will be of enormous benefit to these guys, it is a great opportunity to play with the best players in the world. Sometimes you have to pinch yourself when you look around the room. These are players that really made their mark in international cricket," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Mott, as saying.
"People are entitled to their opinions. I have told the players about my experiences in the inaugural series. I have also been recommending NSW players to other franchises, wherever I think they might get a few games," he added.
Mott said the players would improve by being surrounded by the best in the business and would return with boosted ability to NSW, therefore making a stronger squad.
Victoria's coach, Greg Shipperd, is also trying to recruit youngsters from his squad to play for the Delhi Daredevils - where he is the head coach.
With a hectic international schedule ahead, most of Australia's Test and one-day players won't be available for the IPL for the next two years, while the state players will be free to play every game, a juicy lure for franchise owners. (ANI)
