IBSA for a better trilateral relation in trade and energy needs
July 17: The India-Brazil-South Africa dialogue forum today got a boost to the trilateral relation between the three fastest growing developing countries. Today in a foreign minister level meet chaired by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee various international and domestic issues are discussed are discussed extensively between the three countries.
The most important outcome of the today’s meeting is the readiness to cooperate each other in improving trade and fulfilling each others energy needs. In this process Brazil and South Africa, two of the important members of Nuclear Supply Group (NSG) agreed to support India’s civil nuclear requirements.
India ’s External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim and South African Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma understand the importance of nuclear energy and hence settled a better civil nuclear cooperation under the guidelines of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The development holds much important to India in a time when India-US civil nuclear deal is under its process with differences on concerns like nuclear testing and reprocessing. The three countries are also agreed for a better cooperation in other energy options including bio-fuels.
Various other issues are also discussed by the three members including each others effort in making United Nation Security Council more democratic and efforts for environmental protection.
Formed the year 2003, IBSA are in constant effort to strengthen their cooperation in trade, investment and various other issues related to socio-economic equity. This includes improvement and promotion of education, employment, human rights, intellectual property and also to fight jointly in global threats like AIDS.
