Sanjay Jha, a young Indian business journalist has declared joint winners for the prestigious Gerald Loeb Award for Business Journalism. Steve Washington, Darren Gersh, Dana Greenspon and Sanjay Jha of PBS Nightly Business Report for "India's Promise” won the award in the “Television Daily” category.
“India's Promise” is a four-part series that portrays the rise of India’s economy explaining the growth and development and its implications. Produced by the Nightly Business Report, the series presents a first-hand report of the ground economic issues of a vast and diversified country like India also in proposition with the rapid globalisation.
Established in 1957 by Gerald Loeb, the Award is a distinguished one in business and financial journalism. The Award is now administered by the Anderson School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles.
Gerald Loeb was a financier and founding partner with E.F. Hutton, to encourage quality reporting in business, finance and the economy. He first came into prominence for his book “The Battle for Investment Survival”, published during the period of Great Depression. Loeb changed the entire notion of finance and business reporting with his investing view points published mostly in Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, and Investor Magazine.
Those honoured received a cash prize of US $ 2000.
