Madonna wins privacy case against Britain's Daily Mail
New Delhi, December 9 (ANI): Madonna, who had accused a Brit tabloid of breaching her privacy and copyright by publishing her eight-year-old wedding pictures, has claimed victory in the legal battle.
The exclusive images of the singer's marriage with director Guy Ritchie in 2000 had not been made public until 11 of them appeared in the Daily Mail on October 19, reports the China Daily.
The Queen of Pop claimed that an interior designer had "surreptitiously gained access to the photograph album and copied at least 26 photographs" from her California residence.
While the 'Material Girl' is yet to receive an apology despite admissions made by the newspaper, her attorney Matthew Nicklin is claiming damages more than five million pounds saying the personal photos were estimated to be worth that much.
However, the tabloid's spokesman said that Madonna did not have the copyright to the images when they were published and insisted they were not valued at the claimed amount.
He said: "Their commercial value today is indicated by the very modest sum we and other publications paid for them. The figure suggested by Madonna's lawyers is simply fantasy." (ANI)
