New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) Three people were burnt to death and two suffered injuries when their car caught fire after hitting a road divider on the GT Road in north Delhi Monday, the police said.
Priyanka Bharti, 24, Juhi Sharma, 37, Sonam Sharma, 20, Rubi, 26, and Vinit, 23, were travelling in the car that met with accident in Alipur area around 7 a.m.
The police said all were employees of a private firm in Gurgaon and were returning from marriage party in Panipat, Haryana.
Vinit is a resident of Munirka Vihar and Ruby lives in Sector 6 Dwarka. Priyanka was a native of Una, whereas Juhi and Sonam were from Gurgaon and Shimla respectively.
'Vineet was driving and Ruby had taken the side seat. The others were at the rear seat. The car was apparently at a high speed when it hit the divider on the road and caught fire,' said an investigating official.
'Some passers-by managed to pull out Vineet and Ruby. But others died in the car. Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition,' the official added.
The injured were rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where their condition was stated to be out of danger.
