Businessman alleges theft of jewellery, cash from bank locker
New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) A city-based businessman Monday created ruckus at the branch of Indian Overseas Bank in northwest Delhi, alleging that he was robbed of his cash and jewellery worth Rs.10 million from a bank locker after forging his signatures.
The police have registered a case on the complaint of B.D. Gupta, an iron dealer and resident of Lok Vihar in Pitampura. Gupta arrived in the morning at the Pitampura branch of Indian Overseas Bank along with some men and started fighting with bank officials over the alleged theft.
'Gupta in his complaint alleged that someone has fraudulently withdrawn cash and jewellery worth Rs.1 crore (Rs. 10 million) from his bank locker. He has raised suspicion on bank employees,' said a police official.
