Two killed in bus accidents

New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) Two people, including a 55-year-old man, were killed and another critically injured in separate bus accidents in the capital Monday.

 

The 55-year-old man was crushed under the wheels of a Blueline while alighting at a red light in the Daryaganj area of central Delhi.

 

 

Police said the incident took place in the morning. 'The victim was getting down from the bus at a red light near Daryaganj when the Blueline bus route number 39 plying between Jheel to Kanahiya Nagar, suddenly took off due to which he lost his balance and came under the wheels of the bus. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead,' said the police.

 

 

The victim has not been identified. The driver of the bus is absconding.

 

 

In another incident, a 45-year-old man suffered critical head injuries after he was hit by a chartered bus on the BRT corridor in Chirag Dilli area of south Delhi.

 

 

Devmani Tiwari, who works as a security guard in the DDA office in south Delhi, was hit by a chartered bus from behind near Chirag Dilli crossing early in the morning.

 

 

Tiwari, a resident of Faridabad, was immediately rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

 

 

The driver managed to flee and police are looking for him.

 

 

In other incident, a person, Hafizuddin, died after falling from an interstate DTC bus plying between Delhi and Bijnor.

 

 

The incident took place at around 10.30 a.m. at ISBT, Kashmere Gate, in north Delhi. The victim was boarding the bus when the driver suddenly accelerated, due to which he lost his balance and fell, suffering severe head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

 

 

The police have arrested the driver and confiscated the bus.
