New Delhi, Dec 8 (IANS) Congress candidate Parvez Hashmi proved his detractors wrong by winning the Delhi assembly elections for the fourth time in a row from Okhla constituency where the killing of two alleged terrorists in a gun battle in September led to mass protests against 'police excesses'.
It was a close fight in the Muslim-dominated constituency among the Congress, the Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) Brahm Singh and of the Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) Asif Mohammed Khan. Hashmi won by a margin of 400 votes. The RJD finished second.
