Now, Amy Winehouse's life to be studied at university

London, Thu, 04 Dec 2008 ANI

London, Dec 4 (ANI): Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is to be studied as part of a new university degree course.

The singer's musical career has been blighted by drug addiction. She is rumoured to be divorcing husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 26, who was this week sent back to prison after failing a routine drugs test. The highs and lows of 25-year-old's life will be used as a 'set text' on the music course at the University of the West of Scotland.

The 'Rehab' hitmaker's record company, Island, will provide teaching materials on the diploma and degree-level course.

"Amy Winehouse is a great example of the potential pitfalls in the music industry," the Telegraph quoted Allan Dumbreck, music course leader from the University of the West of Scotland, as telling The Times.

"She is recognised as a multi-award-winning great artist. But the by-product of that lifestyle can be stress and illness. We would look at how the industry is often not a supporter of longevity.

"Island have offered us the original marketing plans for artists like Bob Marley, which offer students a fascinating insight into the industry," Dumbreck added. (ANI)
