Heavy rains lash Mumbai, disrupts traffic

Mumbai, July 1 (ANI): Heavy rains lashed Mumbai today disrupting road, rail and air traffic.

 

According to the Regional Meteorological Department, around 200 mm of rain was recorded in Colaba, in South Mumbai, while Santa Cruz suburbs recorded 142.9 mm of rainfall.

 

Water logging upto one-and-a-half feet was reported in Bandra, Sion, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Andheri areas, besides several others.

 

The vehicular traffic was disrupted due to landslides in the Mumbai-Pune expressway, even as train services on the Central Railway were halted following water-logging between Kurla and Vidyavihar suburbs.

 

According to railway sources, trains were running late by 15-20 minutes on the Western and Harbour lines.Besides, air traffic was also affected, as flights from the international airports were delayed by around an hour and a half. his is the second spell of heavy rains that Mumbai has received this season. Last year too the city and its suburbs had got paralysed due to incessant rains. (ANI)
