Gurgaon, Dec 3 (IANS) Riding on Hari Prasad and Aiyan Aiyamma's strikes, Bharat Petroleum beat Indian Oil 2-0 in the final of the Shastri hockey tournament at the Nehru Stadium here Wednesday.
Bharat Petroleum made amends for their Nehru Cup final loss last week when they went down to India Colts in a thrilling match.
Petroleum team drew first blood in the 17th minute with a field goal from Prasad.
The teams went into the breather with Bharat Petroleum leading 1-0. Indian Oil failed to find the equaliser even as Bharat Petroleum added one more through Aiyamma in the 54th minute.
Indian Oil should be happy with the runners-up cup as they gave a vastly improved performance compared to their showing in the Nehru Cup in which they failed to even qualify for the quarterfinal league.
