Militants target service sector in Manipur
Imphal, Dec.1 (ANI): Militant groups in Manipur have marred the daily life of people in the State.
Militants have spared none, be it any educational body, government office or any private business organization.
Recently, 'Blue Dart', a courier service became militants' target and had to close down its operations.
The extortion demand forced the organization to close down for an indefinite period, paralyzing the movement of couriers in and out of the state.
The fear was clearly visible among the employees of the courier service. None of them was willing to talk on camera against the militants.
M. Pishak Singh, one customer of Blue Dart, said: "The public is really suffering, especially our children, who are studying outside. They are not able to receive their documents in time and these innocent children have become the victims. We as guardians are helpless."
Kameshwar Singh, an employee with the Social Welfare Department, said: "I want the miscreants to negotiate. They should not cause inconvenience to public."
People here complain there is no end to their woes, as the miscreants continue to inflict atrocities on the civil society for selfish purposes.
Militant activities have also led to the closing down of four well known hotels of Imphal.
These militants often claim to represent the interests of the people but, in reality, they have become the biggest obstacle to their welfare as they are showcasing their muscle power by targeting the very people, they claim to be fighting for. (ANI)
