Woman UN employee killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, Nov 30 (Xinhua) An Afghan woman employee of the UN has been killed in eastern Afghanistan, the UN said Sunday.

 

Belqis Mazloomyar was shot dead in front of elders at a meeting Nov 26 of the local shura (elders' meeting) at Lower Sheikh Mesri, a temporary settlement for returnees, the statement said.

 

 

'The UN family, as well as human rights partners and NGOs in Afghanistan stand together in condemning her murder and in calling for a thorough investigation,' it said.

 

 

No group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
