Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer wins sex tape case

London, Jun 29 (ANI): American actor Verne Troyer of the Austin Powers movies was successful in stopping the distribution of a sex tape featuring him with a former girlfriend.

Troyer revealed that the sex tape he made with a former girlfriend and which was never intended to become public, was stolen from his home some months ago.

A 25-second clip of the video was posted by the celebrity web site TMZ this week, but were pulled down after a federal judge granted a temporary restraining order requested by Troyer's attorneys.

According to the ruling no porn distributor will be able to take orders for the full 50-minute video, and it will keep TMZ from broadcasting any more clips.

Troyer's lawsuit also seeks 10 million pounds in damages and the return of all copies of the tape.

US District Judge Philip Gutierrez wrote that Troyer's motion "demonstrated that he will suffer irreparable harm to his reputation" if the tape is distributed.

Troyer's attorney, Tracy Rane, said she, Troyer and others are "very pleased" by the ruling.

"Mr Troyer is extremely distraught by the recent exploitation of his private life," the Scotsman quoted Troyer's publicist, Melissa Bergera as saying. (ANI)
