FCI official killed in cross firing between Police and ULFA

July 12: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) chief for North East Mr. Phul Chand Ram is believed to be killed by the ULFA militants in a cross firing between the police and the militants.

 

The incident started last night and the body was found early in the morning in the Kamrup district of Assam.


The ULFA militant’s sudden attack came from a building near a village and return fire two extremist killed and another body was found that resembles similarities of FCI official Ram. Assam Police DIG G P Singh said this in Guwahati.


Ram was earlier kidnapped by ULFA and in return the militants had demanded the release of their two activists. Earlier on June 30 a body was found near Baksa district and Ram’s son Prabin Gautam had identified that as his father. Even the body was taken to the residence of Ram in Ghaziabad and cremated.


However, a couple of days later the ULFA militants sent message that Ram is still alive and his family members also confirmed that they had talked with Ram over phone. This made security officials to hunt for his search and also the truth behind the claims.


Assam government soon realised their mistake and made it clear that the body that was cremated by Ram’s family was that of an army officer. Meanwhile the body believed to be Ram has been sent for post-mortem.


According to a police officer a message has sent to the family members to come and identify the body. Till now confusion prevails as long as the body has not been properly identified. However, the physical features points out it as Ram’s body.


United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militants are constantly attacking civilians, security forces by creating explosion on a daily basis in the north-eastern state. Till now according to official report they have killed more than 20,000 people in the name of liberation as they want to make Assam a separate state out of the control of New Delhi.


Though the Government of India has declared it a militant organisation but has not able to save the people of the state from the constant attack of ULFA.
