PCB chief Butt, Miandad meet Sindh Governor to discuss India series
Karachi, Nov 28 (ANI): PCB chairman Ijaz Butt and the Board's Director-General Javed Miandad reportedly held high-level meetings with leading Pakistan government functionaries in Karachi in a bid to ensure that the first leg of the home series against India is held smoothly here in January.
The duo called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and sought his support for the home series that will kick off with India's arrival here on January 5.
Karachi is scheduled to host the opening match of the three-Test series from January 13. However, the series is in jeopardy because of security fears.
Miandad described the meeting as fruitful. "It was a good meeting and the Sindh Governor has assured us of his complete support for successful hosting of the series (against India)," The News quoted the former Pakistan Test captain, who was appointed as the Board's Director General earlier this month.
He said that the governor has made it clear that the Sindh Government will prove best possible security arrangements for the safety of the Indian cricketers.
"The Governor is himself a big cricket fan. He has assured us of all possible support from the government," he said and added that the PCB is making all out efforts to ensure that the series against India takes place in a successful manner. (ANI)
