Agro Tech-2008 to draw increased foreign participation
Chandigarh, Nov 27 (IANS) The eighth edition of the biennial agro-technology and business fair, 'Agro Tech 2008', slated to start here Nov 28 will witness an increased international participation this year, organisers said here Thursday.
'This year, seven countries, Italy Germany, Canada, Spain, the UK, Japan and the Netherlands will participate in this event.

There will be a separate pavilion for them, where they will showcase their products including farm equipment, cattle feed, processed food and post harvest technologies,' Agro Tech-2008 chairman Gautam Thapar told reporters here through video conferencing from Delhi.
'We are also expecting an increased number of high-level international delegations to come here. We got a tremendous response in Agro Tech-2006 that saw trade inquiries to the tune of the $585 million and direct business worth $170 million,' he added.
The Agro-Tech 2008 is spread over an area of 5,960 square metres with 204 stalls and the authorities here are expecting over 15,000 farmers from states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to visit the event.
States like Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the event by putting up stalls.
