Lahore, Nov 27 (ANI): A senior US military commander has said that Pakistan had now become Al Qaeda's main target instead of Iraq. He also said that the terror group had stepped up its efforts to destabilise the country.
General James Conway, the head of Marine Corps and a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that Iraq was now a 'rear-guard action' on the part of Al Qaeda.
"They've changed their strategic focus not to Afghanistan but to Pakistan, because Pakistan is the closest place where you have the nexus of terrorism and nuclear weapons," the Daily Times quoted him as saying in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.(ANI)
