PCB chief rejects Majid Khan's charge of board-player dispute

Lahore, June 29 (ANI): The Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Dr. Naseem Ashraf said on Sunday that Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and the selectors might have differences of opinion in opting for a 11-member squad, but this did not mean that captain and selectors have differences.

Talking to Geo, he said he was sad about former Pakistan captain Majid Khan's statement and did not want to speak over that issue.

"I was caught by surprise because I wasn't expecting such an outburst from a sensible cricketer like him (Majid)," Ashraf said.

Former Test opener Majid Khan had on Friday demanded that the federal government audit the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) accounts through the Pakistan National Assembly's public accounts committee.

Khan said: "Financial irregularities are on in the PCB and the public accounts committee should intervene to bring the real picture before the nation."

Khan also welcomed the decision of the federal government of levelling income tax on the PCB in the fiscal budget.

He said he was not opposed to the President of Pakistan being the patron of the board, but recent decisions were harming the game.

Criticizing the current selectors, Khan said it had distributed a good number of green caps during the home series against Zimbabwe, but none of the younger cricketers were given a long run.

He said the bad attitude of players such as Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Asif and others were the direct result of PCB's lack of control over things.

Khan said that the non-technocrats did not know the importance of the cricketing associations which were the real resource of producing players. (ANI)
