England postpones ODI series

In the wake of multiple terror strikes in Mumbai on late Wednesday night, the England and Wales Cricket Board has decided to postpone the ongoing one-day international series after consulting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official today.

Reportedly, the touring England squad which was scheduled to play another two one-dayers and two Tests were unlikely to continue their tour under such grave circumstances.

With this, the team will not travel to Guwahati for the sixth ODI as scheduled and will remain in Bhubaneswar overnight for further discussions with the BCCI.

In a press statement, ECB managing director, Hugh Morris said: “On behalf of the board and the England team, we would like to express our condolences to the families and friends of those people who were killed or injured in last night’s attacks.”

“The safety and security of the England team is of the utmost importance to ECB. We have reviewed all our security arrangements in the light of these attacks and will be taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the team,” ECB release added.

Furthermore, in a related development, the BCCI officials are also mulling to cancel the upcoming Twenty20 Champions League after discussing with all the eight participant cricket boards. The league is scheduled to commence on December 3.

At least 101 people, including a foreign tourist and four top police officers, were killed and more than 300 were injured in an audacious terror strike in the country's financial capital Mumbai.
