Six MPs feared held in hotel

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IANS) Six members of parliament (MPs) are feared to have been held hostage by terrorists in Mumbai's Hotel Taj Intercontinental, reports reaching political party offices in Delhi said early Thursday.

'The parliamentarians were in Mumbai as part of a committee on subordinate legislation. Later, they had gone to the hotel for dinner,' an informed source, who did not wish to be identified immediately, said.

The team of MPs was led by parliamentarian N.N. Krishnadas from the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

Congress MP Madhu Goud Yaskhi, who was also to join the team but left Mumbai for Andhra Pradesh, told IANS: 'We could last talk to Krishnadas some hours ago when he said they were having dinner at the hotel and saw three persons coming there and opening fire.'

The staff took them to the hotel's old building, 'but it is difficult to say if they are stuck in the hotel or held hostage, for firing continued for some time after that.'
