Palin's gender was of no consideration in choosing her as running mate: McCain
Phoenix (Arizona, US), Nov.26 (ANI): Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain has said that gender was of no consideration when he chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate in the 2008 elections.
He said that rather than her gender; it was her credentials as a reformer and a principled conservative that convinced him to pitch for her.

"I think that Governor. Palin's future is very bright in the Republican Party. I think she did a great job of energizing our base. I'm very proud of her. It's one of the great pleasures I've had, to get to know her and her family. And I think she has a very bright future in a leadership position in the Republican Party. And I'm still extremely proud of the fact that she agreed to be my running mate," Politico quoted McCain, as saying.
The Arizona senator also stood by his decision to avoid attacking Obama for the actions of his former pastor, despite calls from some Republicans to tackle the issue head on.
