Punjab police seize around 34 kilograms of explosives in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, June 27 (ANI): In a major breakthrough, Punjab police has seized more than 34 kilograms of explosives from three people in Ludhiana.

Acting on a tip off, the police cordoned off a local street and detained the three criminals, traveling with the explosives with an intention to carry out subversive activities.

"They have recovered 34-and-half kilograms of gelatin explosives and have also busted a module in which three people were involved. These three people namely Amreek Singh, Daljit Singh and Sarabjit Singh, who belongs to Moga. At this moment we believe that these three are affiliated to the 'Khalistan Zindabad Force' also known as KZ. We will be able to tell more after further investigations," Sanjiv Kalra, Inspector General of Police (IG), Jalandhar zone, told reporters in a news conference in Ludhiana today.

The Police official also informed that preliminary investigation has revealed that the detainees have also visited Pakistan a number of times and are trained in handling explosives.

Khalistan Zindabad Force is a banned militant outfit, fighting for separate statehood of Khalistan. The outfit was very active during 1980s and 1990s, when the insurgency was at its peak in northern state, Punjab. (ANI)
