Huge quantities of Bangladesh bound cough syrup destroyed in Tripura
Nischintapur (Tripura), Nov 22 (ANI): Tripura police on Friday destroyed huge quantities of Bangladesh bound cough syrup.
According to police, during an anti-narcotic drive, they seized over 50, 000 bottles of Phensedryl syrup from a household along the Indo-Bangladesh border area of Bisalghar.
On a tip off, the police raided the houses and recovered the bottles that were later destroyed on a court order at the dumping ground at Nischintapur near Agartala.
Police further informed that the bottles destroyed were to be used as drugs.
"The price of the consignment, worth about rupees 4.5 million, would have got doubled after reaching Bangladesh where these are used as a substitute to liquor. Its sale in large quantities in banned," the added. (ANI)
