Assam blasts suspects identified: Gogoi
Guwahati, Nov 21 (IANS) All those directly involved in triggering the serial blasts in the Assam Oct 30 were identified and 15 of them have been arrested so far, said Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Friday.
'The main brains or sources behind the blasts here are suspected to be based in Bangladesh,' he added.
'We have been able to identify all those directly involved in the blasts, barring for the explosion at Kokrajhar,' Gogoi told journalists.
Nine explosions Oct 30 in Assam killed 88 people and left over 300 injured.
'We have arrested 15 of the blast suspects so far, although the brains behind the explosions who planned or financed could be in Bangladesh. We are in touch with the central government to help us in tracking them,' Gogoi said.
'The main brains or sources behind the blasts here are suspected to be based in Bangladesh. Forces inimical to India's interest are responsible.'
The chief minister said there were intelligence reports of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) trying to stage violent acts in the state.
'We have already put on high alert our police and paramilitary forces to prevent such attacks,' Gogoi said.
The state government had earlier blamed the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) for the wave of bombings and said the ULFA collaborated in the terror strikes.
