Infosys in Global Dow index

Bangalore, Nov 19 (IANS) Indian IT bellwether Infosys Technologies Ltd figures in the newly launched Global Dow index of 150 leading bluechip stocks, the company said here Wednesday.

?We have been selected as an original component member of the Global Dow, a new worldwide stock index launched by the global publishing firm Dow Jones,? the company said in a statement.

The index represents publicly traded securities in markets open to foreign investment. The selection is based on size, reputation and future prospects. The index covers companies from the developed and emerging economies.

'We are honoured to be a member of the Global Dow. To be amongst global corporations in a competitive environment demonstrates the importance of emerging economies such as India. The selection reiterates our leadership, success and recognises our potential,? Infosys chief executive S. Gopalakrishnan said.
