Jharkhand NGO adopts 22 Bihar flood victim children
Ranchi, Nov 18 (IANS) A Non-Government Organisation (NGO) in Jharkhand has adopted 22 children who lost their parents and were rendered homeless in the recent floods in neighbouring Bihar.
Louis Educational and Development Society (LEADS) accorded a warm welcome to the orphaned children, who arrived here from Patna Tuesday. The NGO had announced it would adopt 100 orphaned children affected by the Bihar floods.
In the first phase, 22 children have been adopted. These children will be admitted to the Star International Residential School run by the NGO.
'The children will be provided free education up to the intermediate level and would be provided a homely atmosphere so that the horrifying memories of the disaster gradually get erased from their minds,' LEADS president Dinesh Singh said.
He said the children have been adopted after completing formalities with the Bihar government. Twenty five orphaned children will be brought by the end of next month.
