Jammu, Nov 16 (IANS) Former chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed Sunday demanded a probe into the links between ex-Jammu and Kashmir governor Lt.Gen. (retd) S.K. Sinha and Malegaon blast accused Hindu priest Dayanad Pandey.

'Dayanand Pandey had stayed with then governor Sinha as his guest in 2007. Their links need to be probed,' Mufti, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron, told reporters here.

Self-styled Shankaracharya Amritanand Dev of Jammu's Sharada Sarvadnya Peeth, who is also known as Dayanand Pandey, is suspected of being involved in the Sep 29 Malegaon bomb blast in which six people were killed.

He was Friday remanded to 12 days's police custody by a Nashik court after he was arrested from Kanpur.

The police believe that Pandey attended several meetings of right wing Hindu group Abhinav Bharat in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Faridabad this year and 'directed' Malegaon blast accused Lt. Col. Prasad Srikant Purohit to procure and use RDX in the terror act.
