Moya confirms participation in Chennai Open
Chennai, Nov 13 (IANS) Former World No.1 Carlos Moya Thursday confirmed his participation in the Chennai Open from Jan 5-9 here.
Moya , who is currently ranked 42 , is a 2004 and 2005 champion and will be making his seventh appearance here in the last eight years.
The Spaniard missed a hat trick of titles in 2006 when he was defeated by Ivan Ljubucic. In 2007, he was well on-course to another final, but a brilliant performance by Austrian Stefan Koubek, the eventual runner-up, deprived him of a shot at the title. In 2008, he showed good form reaching the semi-finals, but was a bit unlucky to lose to his good friend and then World No 2, Rafael Nadal.
Confirming his participation, Moya said: ''I always look forward to coming to Chennai. I love the courts, and the crowd always supports me. I just want to come here and give my best and enjoy being part of this popular tournament.'
