Congress removes Makwana as head of Scheduled Castes cell
New Delhi, Nov 13 (IANS) The Congress Thursday removed former union minister Yogendra Makwana from the chairmanship of the Scheduled Castes Department of the All India Congress Committee on the charge of publicly criticising the policies and functioning of the party.
An official statement from the party said: 'Makwana has been publicly criticising the policies and functioning of the party for a long time, which amounts to gross indiscipline.

'The party has taken a serious view of his conduct and consequently, the Congress president has relieved him of the chairmanship of the SC department with immediate effect,' the statement said.
Meanwhile, party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad told reporters: 'We also have information that he (Makwana) is going to float a political party with himself as its president.'
