Indian company gets No. 1 branding in unbreaded shrimp category in US market
Kochi, Nov.13 (ANI): Tastee Choice, an Indian food processing company, has made its foray into the US supermarkets by becoming the No. 1 brand in the unbreaded shrimp category, as per A.C. Nielsen, the international rating agency's recent reports.
The ready to cook shrimp brand 'Tastee Choice' has been given top rating in its category by the A.C.Nielsen, on the basis of last year's sales records. The report stated the total one-year sales of the 'Tastee Choice' brand in America was an estimated 25.12 million dollars from the total sales of 23 million units.
The report holds significance considering the prevailing global market scenario and the innumerable speculations due to US economy meltdown.
"It is for the first time that an Indian food processing company's brand has been rated and become No. 1 in the US markets under the unbreaded shrimp category, especially in the departemental stores and retail outlets across US. This brings a proud moment not only for our company but for the entire nation," said Jose Thomas, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tastee Choice.
The Kerala-based Choice Group has been associated with exporting frozen and processed foods for over half a century now having its outsourcing offices and processing units set across Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.
The brand name is legally registered with the Trade Mark Authority in the United States of America.
Frozen and processed foods like Tail-on Black Tiger Shrimp, Cooked Salad Shrimp, Cooked Peeled and Deveined Tail-on Tiger Shrimp, Headless White Individually Quick frozen Shrimp are some favourites products that are sold and promoted through Retail Chain in the US.
Jose added that the group's total turnover from the US market for its various frozen and ready to cook products, including Tastee Choice was 58 million dollars as per 2006-07 fiscal.
The company wants to cross the targetted 75 million dollars mark in the current fiscal year and forecasts more than 150 million dollars by 2012. By Juhan Samuel (ANI)
