The IIFA award ceremony is always a very special occasion for Bollywood. Most of the Members of the Bollywood clan eagerly look forward for this event. This time it was no exception. Many a Bollywood celebs recorded their presence by some or the other means at the grand eve. The event took place at Siam Niramit Complex situated in the heart of Bangkok city.
Bollywood king, Shahrukh Khan reigned the IIFA function with numerous awards at the eve. Shahrukh's Chak De India won nine honours while his home production film Om Shanti Om bought him home five technical awards in various fields. Kareena won the best actress award for her highly successful movie Jab We Met.
While Ranbeer Kapoor and Deepika Padukone booked their thrones at best debut actor and actress, Abhishek Bachchan and Katrina Kaif won the honour of the receiving the Style Icon trophy. Neil Nitin Mukesh was awarded as the Idea Fresh Face of the year for his debut movie Johny Gaddar.
The gracious and lively hosting by Ritesh Deshmukh and Boman Irani kept the audience glued to their chairs. They humorously talked about the Blog war the actors were engaged in. However, as a host, Urmila could not effectively hold the stage.
Shootout at Lokhandwala got the best action award while Imtiyaz Ali got the best dialogue award for Jab We Met and Vaibhavi Merchant got the best choreography award for Aaja Nach Le.
Akshay Kumar marked his presence by his extra-ordinary performance (as most of the times) when he came sliding down a cable from a corner of the auditorium. He performed on songs from his upcoming movie Singh Is King. He was honoured with a special achievement award, the IIFA honour from Thailand.
The occasion was further graced by the bombarding performances by stars like Katrina, Kareena, Govinda and stars from the movies like Acid Factory, Mission Istanbul, De Taali and Love Story 2050.
The movie Guru won the best background store to Mani Ratnam and best sound recording to H. Sridhar. The best screenplay award was jointly rewarded to Anurag Basu and Jaideep Sahni for Life In A Metro and Chak De India respectively.
