Lionel Richie likes to call granddaughter 'The Mouse'

Washington, November 11 (ANI): Lionel Ritchie has revealed that he likes to call his 10-month-old granddaughter, Harlow, "The Mouse" - because he thinks that she will run away like one when she would grow up.

The Grammy award-winning singer said that he kept reminding daughter Nicole that Harlow's gradual growth was a reminder of the day when she'd leave the family home to be on her own.

"The Mouse holds on to the edge of a chair now and is gaining the confidence to think, 'Maybe these legs belong to me.' I keep telling Nicole that it's a bad sign, because once those legs gain confidence, then they're out of here!," People magazine quoted her, as saying.

The 59-year-old songwriter further said that he finds it hard to believe that his untamed daughter had transformed into a dedicated mother. He said: "We must be talking about someone other than my daughter! This is not the same Nicole that brings 15 friends over to my house while (Lionel's daughters) Myles and Sofia are sleeping, and says, 'Dad, what's the problem?' "

"This is whole new territory, and I couldn't be happier." (ANI)
