The three-day suspense and drama ended on Wednesday with the withdrawal of resignation by the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samiti) Chief K C Rao after a resolution by the party Executive Committee which unanimously rejected his resignation.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, popularly known as KCR, had resigned from the post of Party president on Tuesday after taking moral responsibility for the party’s setback in the recently concluded by-elections for Assembly and Parliamentary seats in Andhra Pradesh.

Though speculation of his resignation was floating in the air soon after the party's debacle, but it met its fate Tuesday and a day later was followed by an emergency meeting of the senior party leaders. The leaders unanimously passed a resolution pleading KCR to take back his resignation.

It was unanimously said in the meeting that KCR had no right to resign as the party chief because he was the founder of the party and it was he who had revived the Telangana movement.

As KCR had separated him away from the meeting, a delegation of senior leaders reached his residence later to convey him the party's decision and feeling expressed by the leaders. They also appealed him to continue demand of asking separate Telangana state.

Highly pleased with the leaders, workers, and supporters, the TRS chief later willingly nodded with the party's unanimous decision and announced yesterday taking his resignation back.

Overwhelmed by the love and affection shown by the party cadres at the time of crisis, Rao said, "I don't have sufficient words to thank you for the support you extended to me when I was injured and was feeling let down."

Rao had sent his resignation to party general secretary Madhusudhanachary on Tuesday accepting the moral responsibility for the party's defeat in the by-election.

Taking charge of the party chief, KCR announced Telangana Bandh on Friday against hike in the prices of petroleum products by the Central government.

In the by-elections concluded last week for 18 assembly and 4 parliamentary seats, the TRS had suffered crushing defeat and could be able to get only seven assembly seats and two parliamentary seats. The by-election had to organise after 16 of TRS legislators resigned from their constituencies on the sole issue of demanding separate Telangana State. In all, TRS won seven seats, while the Congress won six and the TDP five assembly seats.
