President Patil to inaugurate National Education Day today
New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the National Education Day here today.
National Education Day is observed in tribute to eminent freedom fighter and educationalist Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Azad was also India's first Minister for Education.
Institutions of educational would be involved in seminars, symposia, workshops, rallies on importance of literacy and in promoting the nation's commitment to all aspects of education.
Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh will be preside over the function.
A special cover on Maulana Azad and a set of books published by National Book Trust of India on him will also be released on the occasion.
The National Book Trust will also organize a photographic exhibition on Azad.
Vice Chancellors of state and central universities, heads of central educational institutes, eminent educationists and school children will attend Tuesday's function.
Similar functions will also be organized in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and West Bengal. (ANI)
