The world counts India as the country of murderers, at least the figures released in Delhi says so. According to the report, India is a country that witnesses the highest number of murders every year than any other country on the globe.

This new government report records 32,719 murder cases every year which was double the US figure and three times that in Pakistan. Moreover, according to the experts, the real crime rate is even much higher if we take into account the unreported cases and unmanipulated data as well.

However, the report proposed plainly that the rate per population of murder and other crimes in India was much less compared to other countries. National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has compiled in its report, five million cases of crime, including murder, rape and drug offences in 2007-2008.

Considering the population size, South Africa has the highest murder rate of nearly 31,000 incidents recorded last year. As a whole, South Africa emerged as the most dangerous place with 65.27 murders per 100,000 people and 115.8 rapes per 100,000 people. The maximum number of theft cases were registered in Japan which contributed 17,25,072 such cases.

The survey brought some interesting revelations to the fore. It expressed that majority of the murders are crimes of passion, lust, sudden provocation and on matters of property disputes. It is also been reported that the graph of murder in Delhi has increased by 1.08% in 2007 as compared to 2006.

So at last India has succeeded in safeguarding its position as the number one Crime Bank of the world. Though the data figured by such authorities are seldom reliable, they are sure to affect the number of tourists coming from across the seven seas to visit the holy, pious land of the sacred country.
