Vice Chancellors' Conference to discuss higher education
On the eve of the first National Education Day, a conference of Vice Chancellors of central universities and Directors of central technical institutions will be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on Monday (November 10).
Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Arjun Singh will inaugurate the conference that is aimed to discuss many important issues pertaining to the development of higher education in the country.
Invited heads of the various institutions will hold talks on the present status of higher education, exploitation of financial resources served to many institutions for implementation of OBC reservation, also the recommendation of Chadha Committee in regard to quality issues.
The intellectual gathering will also discuss the proposed financial assistance during the 11th five year plan in promotion of higher education along with the issues related to the filling of all reserved seats.
The Conference will be followed by a Panel discussion presided by Shri R. P. Agrawal, Secretary (HE) with Prof. Sukhdeo Thorat, Chairman UGC, Prof. Goverdhan Mehta and Prof. A. Gnanam on a range of issues.
