This is an excellent effort in catering the interest of worldwide audience.
Google that bought You Tube has launched it in nine different countries including Japan, Brazil, Italy, UK, France, Netherlands, Island, Poland and Spain. All local sites are designed accordingly with unique home page and content. Again the search functionality will be also accordingly to the region.
YouTube has also signed agreements with different corporations for exclusive video rights and is trying to add various other features including regional video rankings directing specific sections.
Yesterday in a press conference in Paris, official of Google stated that as more than half of the traffic for the website comes from outside US, it was necessary to target those markets outside and hence the new venture in various languages had become necessary. Now its expansion has further offered a stiff competition to the local sites.
Since last year and after the acquisition of YouTube by search engine giant Google, the traffic and popularity has seen an immense rise.
However, YouTube may face new legal battles with news rules and regulations as it enters new markets in different countries. It has been tackling some copyright issues in U.S. but the company has clarified that it will remove such copyright videos as soon as the owner sends a notice.
As far as European market is concerned, the company is in constant process to set deal with different organizations in obtaining license for displaying the videos. However, the site may face certain issues in future. But no doubt this kind of international expansion has offered a new opportunity to the audience in terms of video sharing and to the company in profit making.
