In a noble gesture, the Indian Premier League (IPL) organiser has announced to donate aid of Rs 6 million to the victims of Jaipur blasts. The serial bombing that rocked the city on Tuesday (May 13) took lives of at least 64 people and injured over 200.

The eight franchise owners and five sponsors contributed the sum amount that will be donated to the state chief minister relief fund of Rajasthan.

In a press statement, the IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi briefed that each franchise owner donated Rs 5 million each, while each of the five sponsors namely DLF Ltd, Vodafone, Citibank, Kingfisher and Hero Honda have contributed Rs 4 million.

The ongoing multi-billion dollar tournament has been proved to be a successful venture thus far and their contribution to the victims of deceased family members in the terror attack certainly adds more respect to the game of cricket.

The Pink City, as Jaipur popularly known, is one of the hosts of IPL cricket matches with its own team Rajasthan Royals. The tournament management has confirmed that the match on Saturday (May 17) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium (Chogan Stadium), Jaipur is well on its schedule with no change of venue due to security concern.

IPL Chairman, Lalit Modi, confirmed that Jaipur will host the match between Rajasthan Royals and Bangalore Royal Challengers on Saturday. It is said security has been stiffened in all venues where the IPL matches are to be played.
