Tendulkar's century guides India to 311/5

Nagpur, Nov 6 (IANS) Sachin Tendulkar scored his 40th Test century as India ended the first day of the fourth and last cricket Test against Australia at 311 for five in the first innings at the brand new Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium here Thursday.

 

At stumps, Sourav Ganguly was batting on 27 and Mahendra Singh Dhoni four.

 

 

Tendulkar (109) added 146 with V. V. S. Laxman (64) for the fourth wicket after openers Virender Sehwag (66) and debutant Murali Vijay (33) gave a rollicking 98-run start. Australia's debutant off-spinner Jason Krejza picked up three for 138.
